Tom Perriello’s lead over Virgil Goode in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District is back up to 745 votes, according to an update on the State Board of Elections Web site.
A lead by Tom Perriello over Virgil Goode in Virginia’s 5th District narrowed a bit Monday, according to the State Board of Elections Web site.
Perriello’s lead was 407 votes Monday, three days after he declared himself the winner with 745 votes in the highly contested race. Goode said Friday he is not conceding and is hoping for a miracle.
In every county and city in the 5th Congressional district, Goode drew a smaller share of votes than he did in 2006. The decline in the percentage of voters from 2006 to 2008 ranges from 5 percent in Nelson County to 20 percent in Martinsville.
The state board of elections is set to certify the election results Nov. 24.
