ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Governor Tim Kaine has put his signature to legislation intended to improve Virginia’s foster care system.
At a ceremonial signing Friday in Roanoke, Kaine said the new laws are intended to focus on the child, family and community.
One measure expands visitation rights for siblings separated by foster care, while another is intended to help parents cut through the thicket of government agencies that deal with children.
Before the bill signing Kaine and first lady Anne Holton met with 10 teenagers in an outreach program.
