A tired but beaming Gov. Timothy M. Kaine today said the election of Sen. Barack Obama was “an amazing day—one of the best days of our lives.“
“Old Virginny is dead,“ said Kaine, standing with his wife, Anne Holton, in front of the Virginia Civil Rights Memorial at the State Capitol. “We are a new and dynamic and exciting commonwealth . . .
“We are not living in the past,“ Kaine said. “We are looking ahead.“
Kaine, an early backer of Obama and a national co-chairman of his campaign, said the Illinois senator’s win in Virginia demonstrates that “if you a problem solver and try to get people together Virginians will reward that.“
Kaine spoke of the idea of “racial reconciliation” that the governor and his wife have pursued in their private and public lives.
“This is personally so gratifying to me,“ Kaine said. “It’s really been my mission in life.“
Kaine acknowledged that “there were a lot of doubters that Virginia would turn blue in this election” but trumpeted the state’s new political reality.

Cosmo, it’s all here. What janctil is refering to is that Obama wasn’t Christian enough to have the issues covered that would have made the Lynchburg Falwellites give him the time of day. Has nothing to do with race, his views and issues were too socialistic. Socialism is the new Communism. If the far right can’t stay in control using Christian morals, then they can always bring back McCarthy, with a socialist twist. It’s no longer P.C. in Lynchburg to use race as a reason anymore, so they have to find something else. Makes things harder, but doesn’t change the outcome.
Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose

The comment by cosmo Wafflefoot was very wrong. In todays world we vote on issues not race, color, religion,or anything else! I did not want Obama for president but not because he is black but because his views and issues were too socialistic. Hatred for another human being has to stop on all fronts, we have come too far!

I bet he didn’t mention Lynchburg. It’s anything but dead here. Here, as a matter of fact, the earth is only 6000 years old. Tongue talkin, sister kissin, snake handlin, trailer dwellin, black hatin, inbreeding Jesus freaks STILL make up the majority. You Betcha!
