Indict the president? You’ve got to be crazy
The author of a July 22 letter to the editor stated his belief that that President Bush should be indicted for war crimes! That is absurd and ridiculous. President Bush has done an overall good job (not perfect and some mistakes), but what president has not made mistakes during his term?
I cannot recall any perfect ones in my lifetime, and I have lived under 12 presidents. One thing stands out in my mind: the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. Have we had any attacks since then on U.S. soil? No. I believe President Bush deserves some credit for that, don’t you think? Security has been foremost in his presidency, as well as trying to help a small country have some form of democracy and freedom.
While I am writing I would like to mention the current candidates for the upcoming elections in November and give my assessment of them. Senator Barack Obama is unknown and has only been a U.S. Senator for a couple of years; to my knowledge, he has not accomplished anything helpful or of any real significance to our country. He talks good but talk is cheap; action speaks louder than words.
Sen. John McCain is a war hero, a veteran and former POW for more than five years with experience in the U.S. Senate for a number of years. He’s a real American who understands war and has experienced it personally. He does not require any “on the job” training to become president of the United States. If he picks the proper candidate for vice president, I believe he can win. My choice for vice president to run with McCain is Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State and a very smart and intelligent woman who has good credibility and is known around the world with excellent background and history of serving her country. The team of McCain and Rice can serve us well and will be a formidable force for the future.
Now back to the letter writer, he and I both have the right to state our opinions; that is another reason we need to maintain our freedom as Americans and help keep this country strong.

Obama and abortion
If voters want to vote for Barack Obama, it’s their rightful choice; if voters who call themselves Christians want to vote for Barack Obama, they may want to identify themselves as something other than “Christian.”
All you have to do is to know a little about Obama’s voting record in the Illinois Senate, where he voted against a bill (three times) that would prevent doctors from inducing labor, and then letting these babies die, alone and unattended. This is post-birth abortion, clearly infanticide.
But then, it’s not surprising that Obama would see nothing wrong with this: Obama said right out loud that he didn’t really know when life began. (Perhaps it begins in the second year of college and ends when one becomes old and disabled?) Even NARAL and other abortion supporters didn’t think that banning this post-birth abortion “procedure” was really about abortion. Even Hillary Clinton voted for the national version of the bill Obama killed.
So don’t you folks go to church and pray, and then tell me that you support a man who in his official capacity as state senator of Illinois decided that already-born babies didn’t have a right to life! One day, a similar monster may arise and tell you that you’re too old to live, or too poor, or too feeble. Or of the wrong sex. Or race.

Fred - Since you are so disillusioned in this Country perhaps I could offer you one-way air fare to Iraq. It would have to be coach-class; a Benedict Arnold doesn’t deserve first-class accommodations. Sorry. On the other hand - you could always swim.

Pollock I dont pretend to like George Bush for one second. The man has tripled the size of our federal government, made plenty of wrong decisions along the way, and it’s more than obvious that he is not the most perfect Christian that has ever lived on earth. (thank you, though, for bringing that to our attention!) He has, however, made it his number one priority to defend us from radical islam and you cannot underestimate the threat that we face from this religion of hate. Yes there have been casualties, and people like cosmo can cry for the little children in Iraq all day long, but unfortunately it is impossible to fight a war without some casualties. During WW2 nobody would have ever blamed the president for the thousands of casualties we had to endure on D-day. Today we have more civilians that die each day from accidents at work than we do in Iraq. Despite the casualties, the bottom line for you and your peace-at-any price liberal friends is that we have to defeat radical islam by winning in Iraq. We have to do something to stop this mad creep in Iran. Surrendering will have major consequences, so it might be wise to put your stupid ‘change we can believe in’ signs down and actually think before you follow the dumb masses of uneducated voters to the polls to vote for obama. Mcain is not the pefect candidate either, and I’m extremely embarrased to see him get the nomination, but he will continue this fight that must be fought. Yes Bush made mistakes but I’m convinced that, given the intelligence he had at the time, no other commander would have acted any better. Many of our major democrat leaders felt the same way at the time; that is, before they realized they could make a political living out of investing in our defeat. It’s like I said in one of my earlier posts…world peace is not an option for the radical muslims. They will lie to our face and seek appeasement for as long as they have to. They will also be as patient with us as they have to because they know that ticking enough of us off will eliminate their chances of advancing their goal. How long do you think they spent planning out the 9/11 attacks? How many times do we have to watch these people make peace agreements with other nations only to see them violate the treaties as soon as they get the chance? And yet we now have a presidential candidate in this country that naively thinks these people will leave us simply alone if we leave them alone. Your candidate of “change” has vowed to deliver them exactly what they want and that is why the extremists also support him to be our next commander and chief. DOES THAT NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU? They love to hear you talk about time tables because they want nothing more than to know the precise date they can begin their next round of attacks. Look, I know it’s painful but get it through your skull….they want to kill us! What is so hard to understand about that? They hate us because they have been taught since they were 3 years old to hate us. They hate our way of life and are crazy enough to destroy their own life if they can take enough of us out in the process. They are even willing to strap bombs on their own women and children to kill others, and something has to be done to stop it. Why you crazy fools want to vote for someone who will sit down with these people and negotiate useless peace treaties with them is just unexplainable. Which american city do you want to see a big mushroom cloud over before you come to your kool-aid drinking senses?

Bush should not be tried for war crimes. However, he shold be impeached for lying to our nation and dragging us into an unnecessary war in Iraq. He and his staff fabricated every so called “reason” for that invasion. Instead of concentrating our forces in Afghanistan, we wasted brave American lives in Iraq in a war that should never have happened. Both Bush and Cheney shold be put in prison for treason, not war crimes.

luv2bevasive. “. . . it will probably be the one that will take us towards socilism the slowest.“ Sounds like you should vote for Barr or Nader. That would be a good choice over Obama, for whom you never stop using Fox News and Rush tag lines or McCain, the man you seem to think has dementia. Either Barr or Nader would be a good choice. The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll today shows Obama ahead by 47% to McCain’s 41%. When Barr and Nader are factored in, the poll shows Obama,48%; McCain, 35%; Nader, 5% and Barr 2%.
Nader or Barr would be a great choice for you, luv. Certainly you would not want someone with dementia in the White House. We’ve already had over 7 years of George H.W. Bush’s idiot son there. Think of that when you get in the voting booth: A vote for McCain, is a vote for dementia. Your conclusion, not mine.

JackSin PoleLock,
Can you please show me the post where I said I would vote for McBush? I haven’t decided who I would vote for yet. I’m not impressed with either one of the two idiots. I’ll have to decide sooner or later and it will probably be the one that will take us towards socilism the slowest. I just haven’t decided which one that will be yet.
Put up or shut up.

OK. I had sworn off recognizing luv as a cognitive human being, but the recent post, when I noticed a bastardized form of my name was written there caught my attention. I find it interesting that luv2bstupid (nawww…I would never resort to name calling) would vote for the man (McBush) he/she claims to “. . . appear [to] . . .suffer from the same form of dementia.“
We already have a President, name George W. Bush, who lost many of his brain cells on drugs and alcohol; now luv wants a President who is suffering from dementia. What a piece of work. Otherwise, luv <silence>

flash10 writes: “Where have all the moral and educational standards that shaped this nation gone? Who knows, but I bet it iss George Bushs fault.“
I could not agree with you more. Bush has been responsible for the criminal war in Iraq, the faux idea that we are a Christian nation and he is a Christian and the boondoggle of NCLB.
To summarize the Bush damage to this country in the loss of moral and educational standards, as you did, is simple, yet brilliant. Bush is the one who bragged about partying in New Orleans during his youth, while 100s had drowned and 1000s were left homeless. Now that, among many immoral acts, none the less of which is the death of 1000s in Iraq while his buddies at Halliburton become ga-zillionaires, gives a good indication of where this “moral” president is coming from. And the education fall in standards - you have nailed it there too. Bush, not a very good critical thinker himself, developed the NCLB program, as the “education President,“ to get everyone to be just like him - take tests, maybe not do too well, but avoid teaching young people to think critically.
flash10, you have done a great service to us by simplifying the problems with this administration. We are not nearly the nation of pride, morality, and intellect we were 8 years ago. I applaud you. Shalom.

Take heart (Martha) some of us still think your body belongs to you. Some people understand that orphanages and foster programs have more kids to feed than they know what to do with. Some of us can only pity the ignorance of a person who could [post]..“You speak of causulties (sic) in Iraq as though there should be no such thing in a time of war?“ Some of us are aware that no one from Iraq, especially the dead children, ever waged war upon us or even had the ability to do so. Since I always like to save the best for last… [poster]..“We would have never became a nation of freedom if people like you were voicing their lousy opinions in 1776.“ It appears that this poster defines “freedom” as NOT including people with opinions that differ from theirs. I always thought that was tyranny.

Cosmo,
When I started posting on here two months ago, you were the first one to use insulting names to me. JackSin was the next one, and Fred was the third. Everyone else has been very civil. You were one of two on here that threatened me with bodily harm. (even though you weren’t man enough to carry it out on little ‘ol 6’3”, 225 lb me)
You can climb down off of your high horse now, you two-faced socialist.
