Thumbs up to to seven sixthgraders from Forest Middle, Holy Cross and Liberty Christian who won the state Odyssey of the Mind competition and are on their way to the world finals next month in Maryland.

Joel Worford, Sam Tatum, Ted Simopoulos, Courtney Goodwill, Sandeep Murthy, Tyler Lash and Jacob Laurent are shining examples of the great schools — public and private — in our area.

Good luck, guys.

This doesn’t make any sense at all!  .."shining examples of the great schools — public and private — in our area.” How do you figure that?  Could we not pick out an identical number of real stinkers who cuss out their teachers and write profanities on the bathroom walls and say… “This is an example of the miserable, worthless wretches our schools, public and private, turn out?” What about the rest of the kids?  Real nice!  They see the names of these, so called, winners in the paper and are left feeling like something the cat dragged in.  So much for their self esteem.  And we wonder why kids turn to illegal drugs or end up on antidepressant medications for the rest of their lives?  In the end, are we not all what God made us?  Are we not all following His plan?  This being the case, ALL glory should go to God.  Throwing praise at these children or their schools is tantamount to Blasphemy!

No Lunchbag Schools mentioned.  Lunchbag Schools spend more money per student than surrounding counties.  Congratulations Lunchbag citizens on getting your moneys worth for your kids!  Looks like all of your kids will be working for the kids graduating from the three school systmes mentioned.

Don’t worry, the world needs ditch diggers and convenience store clerks too.

One can only hope the kids from Liberty Christian don’t get asked any questions about science or geology.  Things could get embarrassing.
