A seniors’ conference, with information on matters ranging from Social Security to financial scams, will be held Monday at Lynchburg College.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Roanoke, is the event’s sponsor and one of the speakers on a program that starts at 10 a.m. in the college’s Hall Campus Center.

Another speaker will be Courtney Malveaux of the Virginia attorney general’s office.

About 30 information booths will cover issues of concern to seniors and provide representatives from federal and local organizations who can answer questions.

Speakers’ topics will include community resources available to seniors, ways to spot scams targeted at seniors, and general financial security and retirement advice.

Organizations represented at the conference will include Social Security, Medicare, the state attorney general, AARP, nursing homes, social services, home health care, veterans’ affairs, and advocates for people with diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and other health concerns.

Shuttle service will be provided from the parking area, which can be reached through the college’s front gate.
