A Timberlake Road accident sent a Lynchburg teenager to the hospital Thursday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.
Trooper A.M. Shupe said at about 4:15 p.m., the juvenile, 16, was driving east in a Mitsubishi Eclipse when she tried to make a U-turn on Timberlake Road at Grove Avenue.
The Eclipse was struck on the passenger’s side by a Chevrolet van driven by Franklin Clay, of Rustburg.
Shupe said Clay was unhurt, but the teenager, whose name was not released, was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.
Shupe said traffic wasn’t impeded, as the vehicles were pulled over onto the shoulder of the road.
The teenager was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
