A school bus driver and two Leesville Road Elementary School students have been released from the hospital following an accident this morning.

The accident happened at about 7 a.m. as bus driver Denise Carr drove bus No. 95 toward her first stop.

The only children on the bus were Carr’s son and granddaughter, both elementary school students who boarded from Carr’s home, said Marty Harvey, administrative assistant to Campbell County Schools Super-intendent George Nolley.

“She was heading westbound on Leesville Road, very close to Town Fork Road, and she left the road and crashed into some trees,” Harvey said.

As of about 11 a.m., he said, school officials did not know all the details of the crash since they had not yet seen the police report.

Carr was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, including a fractured thumb and some cuts and bruises on her legs, Harvey said.

The two children later were also taken to the hospital but were uninjured, he said.

Harvey said another bus driver was asked to pick up children along Carr’s route.
