Lynchburg Police responded Monday night to a call about a suspicious package at the intersection of Boonsboro and Coffee roads.
Officer C.L. Deaner said a call was made at 8:14 p.m. about the package. Upon arriving, Lynchburg Police called in the state bomb squad and closed off Coffee Road from Boonsboro to Stillhouse Run.
At about 11:30 p.m., the bomb squad performed a disruption shot, which effectively opens up the package to determine what is inside. Deaner, who couldn’t release details about what was on the package, said nothing was inside.
Lynchburg Police are investigating.

What is wrong with people???
I live a couple houses up from this so I saw the commotion going on.
Yeah, it’s so extremely funny isn’t it, to toss a package out your car window marked “bomb inside” & other vulgar unmentionables, toss it in the middle of the road next to a church hold a cub scout meeting!
But regardless of where it’s chosen to be tossed, it’s NOT a joke or funny to anyone what-so-ever.
Whether empty package in the end or not makes no difference at all.
The point is the same as if it was an atomic bomb.
I for one am praying this idiot is found and severely prosecuted for this.
Bombs being thrown, girls being shot in drive-bys while sitting in front of their homes bothering nobody…What is WRONG with people?
What is happening to this town?
Wake up, this isn’t some big city that this stuff would be expected in, it’s a little town.
Come on let’s pull together and stop this!
I have 3 children & don’t want mine to be a possible unsuspecting victim of these random things.
This makes me so angry that this is going on in our little town.
