The second victim of a shooting in Charlotte County last week died late Thursday night, and the accused shooter will face more charges, according to Investigator Howard Hobgood, with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Adam Smith, 24, of Gladys, was pronounced dead Thursday after being shot Nov. 22. Hobgood said that Smith also may have been run over by a vehicle.

Nancy Davis, 24, of Rustburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hunters discovered the pair lying beside Wheelers Spring Road, near the Appomattox County line, at about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22, according to Hobgood.

Davis’ husband, Shayne Davis, 23, turned himself in to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at about 8 p.m. the night of the shooting, Hobgood said, and was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Hobgood said further charges will be filed, but would not disclose what those charges will be.

The shooting took place about 20 miles from where Shayne and Nancy Davis lived, on Wheeler Road near Rustburg.
