A Campbell County family is out of a home after their house burned to the ground Tuesday night in a blaze that tied up firefighters from three fire departments.
Campbell County Deputy Fire Marshal Randall Johnson said authorities don’t know what caused the blaze in the house on Old Rustburg Road, but family members said the fire probably started in the basement.
Johnson said the fire call came at 11:23 p.m. Tuesday, and firefighters from the Rustburg, LynDan Heights and Concord volunteer fire departments, along with members of Rustburg Rescue Squad, responded.
Johnson said the two-story house, built in the 1920s, was heavily involved by the time the first units arrived at 11:36, and there was little that could be done to save it.
“There’s not a wall standing,” he said on Wednesday.
“With the old construction of the house, it just contributed to the fire spreading throughout it very quickly.”
Johnson said there are no fire hydrants in the area, and that water had to be shuttled in with tankers. He said the house was so consumed by the time firefighters arrived that hydrants probably could not have saved it.
Johnson said he didn’t know whether the family has insurance on the house, and wasn’t sure how many people lived there.
The Historic Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the family with lodging and necessities.
According to Red Cross officials, the organization is giving aid to five people after the fire.
Johnson said the blaze is still under investigation.

Why are you changing the subject (somebodyhastosayit)? Are you saying God doesn’t control everything? So, when people pray before a football game or when a player thanks Jesus for helping him get the winning touchdown…. it is all just crap? If people recover from illness it’s God at work. If they suffer and expire miserably God is off someplace else making sure the team that prayed the hardest gets the extra point? Sorry, you can’t have it both ways.

wow, never would’ve have thought that someones tragedy would turn into a religous heel fire…dont preach to me about blasphemy, you are the one who’s telling us that God is responsible for everything bad that happens to the human race…
by the way, how many people could’ve grown up to be doctors with the knowledge to cure cancer and instead they drugged themselves up so bad as teenagers that they cant even spell their own name now…blaming that one on God too?

Blasphemy is not welcome here (somebodyhastosayit)! [you post]..“things don’t happen because its his will, they happen because we are too stupid to use the grey matter that he gave us in order to prevent them.“.. Really? So, the house burned down due to the stupidity of the owner? Children get cancer, earthquakes and tidal waves kill tens of thousands and two million traumatic brain injuries happen in America every year as a result of stupidity? IF you are correct… there is absolutely no reason for even the concept of God or Gods. The person who is reputed to be the “smartest” man alive is suffering a miserable death as a result of degenerative neurological disease. You think it’s his fault? The next time someone I know has a house burn down or looses a family member due to a car accident I will be sure to ask them… “How the hell could you be so stupid?“

The Lord also says that he will help those who help themselves, things dont happen because its his will, they happen because we are too stupid to use the grey matter that he gave us in order to prevent them.
Sorry, but your comment just seemed a little facetious, thats all.

..(somebodyhastosayit)..? Are you crazy? Why would I be glad somebodies house burned down? I said..“The Good Lord works in mysterious ways.“ as anyone with eyes can clearly see. If The Lord God didn’t want it to burn down it would not have burned down. I don’t control a damn thing…HE controls everything. If you have a beef with houses burning down, kids getting cancer, aeroplane crashes and the rest… take it up with HIM. HIS will be done..not mine.
