A pursuit that began as a traffic stop ended in a wreck, landing a Lynchburg man in the hospital, according to State Police. A Concord man is charged in the crash.

Trooper D.T. Wilson said a Virginia DMV agent initially tried to pull over Alfonso Porter, 19, for a failure to yield the right of way, at about 5:20 p.m., but Porter would not stop.

After a chase that Wilson said lasted about 10 minutes, Porter turned right off of U.S. 460 onto Doss Road, in Concord, but crossed the center line, crashing his 2007 Ford Taurus into the driver’s side of a Ford minivan, driven by Harold Rob-erts, 71.

Roberts was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries Wilson said appeared minor.

Porter was charged with felony eluding, driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving and possession of marijuana, among other charges, Wilson said.

I went by this incident and saw at least 8 state and local police vehicles responding at extremely high speeds.
Apparently DMV “special agents” do have power to arrest. see link below.

I agree.  Pull over for someone without any lights who is just like holding up a badge?  In these times?  Forget that.  If he wants to follow me as I drive to the closest police station and then explain what the problem is, that’s fine.

You must pull over for a DMV agent? Can someone explain this further?
