A Quizno’s restaurant in Forest was robbed by two men Saturday night, employees told Bedford County sheriff’s deputies.

Lynchburg police officers also responded to the 911 call, which came in at 9:57 p.m., according to Maj. Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff’s office.

Employees said two men came into the restaurant and robbed them at gunpoint.

One of the men pointed a handgun at the employees and ordered them to lie on the floor, and demanded all the store’s cash. After getting an undisclosed amount, they took the business’s telephone and ran outside toward Bull’s Restaurant, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

The suspects were described as two black males, one tall and wearing a ski mask and black T-shirt.  The other was wearing a hooded sweatshirt pulled down over a baseball-style cap, and carried the gun.

Anyone with information on this crime can call the Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900 and receive a reward up to $1,000, or call the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office at 586-7827.

Who said all the crime was downtown?  Forest, Amherst, Madison Heights, Fort Avenue and lots of other “outter city” locations have been struck by crime.  But, I agree with a firm hand in giving out sentences BUT - we HAVE to remember the 3 R’s of sentencing.  Restitution (paying it back), Retribution (doing your time) and Rehabilitation (working on being a better person).  The last R has been woefully neglected by “law enforcement system”.  Just putting criminals in jail, having them work out, eat, do drugs and improve their criminal knowledge IS NOT rehabilitation.  Some jails are full of addicts and there is NO help for them in Lynchburg or the surrounding counties - if you don’t have private insurance - ARISE no longer has a residential program, which in the past - HAS SAVED LIVES.  Thank you Central Virginia Community Services!!!  With no rehabilitation you can only watch for the jails to get even fuller.  Because you can’t fix a problem by walking away.

We say all the crime is downtown but, the criminals are spreading there span out to forest. There neededs to be a firm hand on these people. Instead of getting 5 years in prison they need to get more. All they do in prison is work out, eat, drugs, and learn from the other inmates about other crimes.
