Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting last night that sent a 17-year-old to the hospital.

Dominique Derrell Moss, of Lynchburg, and a male juvenile, whose name police did not release, have each been charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a felony.

The 17-year-old male, whose name was also not released, remains at the hospital.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 11th and Floyd streets in downtown Lynchburg shortly after 7:30 p.m last night

After arriving, police found the 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.

A witness told authorities they saw two other teenagers flee the scene and enter a house on 11th Street.

Police cordoned off a four-block area surrounding the house, and asked the most immediate neighbors to leave their homes as a precaution before making contact with the occupants.

Lynchburg Police Capt. Wayne Duff said yesterday that contact was made around 10:40 p.m., and the two teenagers came out peacefully.

Officers did not offer any theories Tuesday as to what prompted the shooting.

“It’s really too soon to tell what the motive was,” Duff said.
