Junior Miss winners going to state

Three young Central Virginia women have been chosen to compete in the state’s Junior Miss program.

The three, selected Sept. 28 during the Greater Lynchburg Junior Miss competition at E.C. Glass High School:

- Emily Jean Rosser. The Amherst County High School senior is the daughter of Susan and John Rosser. She is the Greater Lynchburg/ Amherst County Junior Miss.

- Caroline Mary Ballard. The Jefferson Forest High School student is the daughter of Kenneth and Dana Ballard. She is the Greater Lynchburg/ Bedford County Junior Miss.

- Amber Leigh Rosser. The Brookville High School student is the daughter of Tamara and Darrell Rosser. She is the Greater Lynchburg/ Campbell County Junior Miss.

The cash scholarship for winners is $4,500.

The winner of a $1,500 scholarship as first alternate was Amy Clemenson, who goes to Timberlake Christian School.

Second alternate and winner of a $1,000 cash scholarship was Kayla Johnson, who attends Amherst and the Central Virginia Governor’s School.

Category award winners:

- Lauren Metz, Brookville. Overall winner, Fitness category, $300 scholarship

- Amber Rosser. Runner-up, Fitness, $200 scholarship; Runner-up, Talent, $200 scholarship.

- Alyx Reinhardt, Brookville and CV Governor’s School. Overall winner, Scholastic category, $300 scholarship.

- Meghan Blanks, Brookville. Runner-up, Scholastics, $200 scholarship

- Caitlin Saloka, Jefferson Forest and CV Governor’s School. Overall winner, Self-Expression, $300 scholarship

- Caroline Ballard. Overall winner, Talent, $300 scholarship; Runner-up, Self-Expression, $200 scholarship.

- Emily Rosser. A $300 scholarship for her Be Your Best Self essay.

- Randi Wood, Timberlake Christian. A $300 scholarship for the Spirit of Junior Miss.

The three area Junior Miss winners will go to the Virginia’s Junior Miss program at Salem High School in December. The winner of the state title will go on to Mobile, Ala., next summer for the national competition.
