A man shot Thursday night on Campbell Avenue is still in critical condition in the Lynchburg General Hospital neurology unit, a hospital spokesperson said Sunday night.
Abderrahin Elfilali, who works as a clerk at the Citgo service station at 3618 Campbell Ave., was shot in the head during a robbery Thursday night, police said.
Six Lynchburg residents were arrested Friday and charged with armed robbery and other associated charges. Five of those arrested are juveniles.

missthang32: Stiffer penalities would deter this type of invasion. If these kids can find the time to commit such a violent act upon an innocent person, they should pay and not be given a slap on the wrist. If they had someone to care about them and monitor their actions, we may all have a better quality of life. My heart goes out to all involved but quite honestly I have a hard time feeling sympathy for these guys. It could have been me, my parents or yours. Would you still feel this way?

I am also sorry to here about this event, but to blame the parents is not going to fix the problem. People make mistakes and make bad decisions that they have to pay for for the rest of there lives. No one has earned the right to judge these young men for what they have done. You also have not earned the right to judge there parents, that is not your job. People post based on what they have heard and read but how many really know what happened that night? These young men mad a very bad decision that will affect the rest of there lives and I know they will pay for this mistake. I hope the cleark makes a full recovery and is ok. This should not be a minority issue, all young people should be raised the same way. How about we dont let any fall through the cracks?????

I am very sorry to hear of what happened to the clerk at the store, it was just awful. I agree with the reader who blames the parents. No one is born a killer. If the parents would use protection if they dont want these children or put in the time to raise them the right way if they do, then we would not have this probleme happening. As far as the neighborhood is concerned, I live in the downtown area and i am raising two very respectful young men in high school who will be somebody because I stay in their lives, know all of their friends, and take the time to listen to my children. Parents wake up and raise these young men because too many minorities are falling through the cracks.
