Possible new construction projects including a new gym at Bedford Primary Elementary School are scheduled for discussion tonight at a Bedford County School Board meeting.

The board will meet in closed session at 4 p.m., then continue with a regular public meeting at 7 p.m. at the Bedford Science and Technology Center auditorium.

At the regular meeting, the board will discuss how to use about $2 million in leftover funds from the construction projects at Jefferson Forest and Staunton River high schools.

About $185,000 of that money likely would be used for a new sewer line at New London Academy, and the remaining amount could be used for bleachers at the three high schools, or a number of other projects.

In a related item, the board is set to review the cost to construct a new gym at Bedford Primary School, which is projected at $1.47 million.

Also at the meeting tonight, the board is scheduled to:

- Discuss possibilities for four new career programs in nursing, culinary arts, criminal justice and sheet metal fabrication at the Bedford Science and Technology Center.

- Hear a report on the projected cost of $31,275 necessary to start a lacrosse team at Jefferson Forest High School.

- Consider approving the 2009-10 budget adoption schedule.
