A teenager arrested in an undercover operation last school year at Amherst County High School was sentenced Tuesday to a month in jail after pleading guilty to drug possession.

Jody Ramsey, 18, pleaded guilty to possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was sentenced to six months, but five months of that term were suspended, Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Maddox said.

Ramsey was arrested in May along with Amherst star football quarterback Peter Rose and five other juveniles accused of selling drugs to an Amherst County deputy who posed as a student.

A county grand jury scheduled to meet Oct. 14 is expected to consider charges that Rose also possessed marijuana with intent to distribute and two felony charges of selling drugs on or near school grounds.

4amherst your right this a wonderful county with lots of good people but there are always a few offbeat’s everywhere you go.  Now I want to say that even though I think that this was a waste of money we do have some great officers here.  But just like every job you have some people who do their work some people who don’t and some who go above and beyond what they are required to do and I think Jimmy Ayers is a good example of one who goes above and beyond what is required of him.  He was a great officer and an even better sheriff.

As an Amherst County resident and employee, I beg to differ with the opinion that we only care about sports.  You are basing your opinion on one teenagers words.  Amherst County has produced many successfull adults.  And, yes some very talented athletes.  Sounds to me like you may be a little jealous that we have it all in Amherst County.

damalama he doesn’t talk like he does because of a lack of education, the kids think that talking like that makes them cool and hard core.  His girlfriend who was by his side went to school there and she doesn’t talk like that. But he was right they are trying to burn Peter Rose.  And the girl who was the officer must have been really slacking in her job if after 10 months this was all that she could come up with. Just a big waste of tax dollars.

did anyone see the wset report on the ramsey case?  maybe if he wasn’t doing all those drugs, and amherst actually cared about education instead of sports then maybe he could speak proper english.
man, i ain’t sold drugs a day in my life…shouldn’t no kid in high school go through this….they’re really going to try to burn peter. it’s all entrapment.  he doesn’t even know what that word means probably.
ramsey looked like a complete IDIOT, say ain’t no school, it was sad, and says alot about the education he recieved at amherst high school, and shows that in the near future he will be back in front of a judge again.  the only future this kid seems to have is one on the streets of downtown.
learn to speak before you go on camera talking like a fool…ya heard?!
