Amherst County Sheriff Jimmy Ayers is recovering at home after a successful cardiac bypass surgery, according to county officials.
Maj. Alfred Rose, with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, said Ayers is recovering well and beginning rehabilitation.
“He’s back at home right now,” Rose said, “and he looks good, and (he’s) feeling good.”
Ayers, 45, was hospitalized on Oct. 8 after complaining of chest pains, and underwent surgery on Friday.
Rose said Ayers likely will not return to work at his full capacity for at least eight weeks, though his recovery could take up to 12 weeks.
Ayers has been the county’s sheriff since 1996.

Just as i thought. No Comments to this little news bit.
Sheriff Ayers and the dept. needs the support of the community during this time but it don’t seem they are going to get it.
Get well soon sheriff. Best wishes to the dept. I am sure you will keep things running in his absence.
