A Monroe man was found fatally shot Sunday morning, and Amherst authorities are asking for citizens’ help in gathering information.
Justin Baumgardner, 19, was found in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck around 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the driveway of a home off Elon Road (Route 130), authorities said.
Authorities said they believe he was killed Saturday night. He had no connection to the home where his truck was found. The resident called police Sunday morning while trying to leave.
Currently, police said they have no suspects in the case and ask anyone with any information to call Crimestoppers at (888) 798-5900.

check on the shooter who frequently fires rounds in the Elon Road and Hans Hill subdivision SHOOTING ZONE. I have complained to the Amherst Sheriff’s dept for 2-3 years about shooting in my area. Other neighbors also complained but we are told it is ok to shoot in this “shooting zone” even out of hunting season. More innocent drivers and walkers or even people in our yards in this area will be randomingly shot as long as we have these authorized “shooting zones” in densly populated areas. These zones were created in the early 70’ties before the area became populated. This SHOOTING ZONE needs to go now! If you live in this area, contact your Supervisor, Chris Adams, and request that our area be removed from this ‘shooting zone”.
