Church to offer program on loss
Peakland United Methodist and First Christian Church will sponsor “Passages: A healing experience,” a six-week session group for those who have had significant loss learn to understand and cope with grief from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning Oct. 30 at Peakland UMC, 4434 Boonsboro Road. The cost is $50 per person and scholarships are available. Call 384-2791.

Parkinson group to meet at The Summit
The Lynchburg Parkinson Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at The Summit, 1400 Enterprise Drive. Barbara Braddock, of the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, will speak on a special type of speech therapy. For information, call 239-4354.

Caregiver group to discuss stress
The Alzheimer’s Association will sponsor a program, “Caregiver Stress,” from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Beard Center on Aging, Brewer Meeting Room, Lynchburg College. For more information, call 845-8540.

Awareness Garden to hold brick dedication
The Awareness Garden will hold Fall Brick Dedication Sunday. Music begins at 2:30 p.m. with dedication at 3 p.m. Parking and shuttles will be located at The Farm Basket.

Family Council to honor caregivers
The First Regional Family Council will recognize caregivers from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Avanté of Lynchburg, 2081 Langhorne Road.  In addition, Avanté staff members will provide information on various topics. Call 385-0970.

Merredith’s to host breast cancer benefit
Merredith’s Fine Dining, 2323 Memorial Ave., will host the annual Pink Auction benefit for breast cancer research and education. The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m.
