Paul Thorn, who has been called “Springsteen from Mississippi,” is headed to Lynchburg to play at the Ellington on June 14.
He’s coming with his band for the show, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. with opening act, Jesse Ray Carter.
Thorn, the son of a Pentecostal preacher, has a show that his publicist says is kind of like a tent revival with a soundtrack of sweaty, bluesy roots rock.
Thorn has appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” He has toured with heavy-hitters, including Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Robert Cray, Marianne Faithfull and John Prine.
Thorn was discovered while playing in a pizza joint in Tupelo and recorded his first album, “Hammer & Nail,” in 1997. His latest release is “Long Way from Tupelo.”
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
