The Paddy D Quartet, featuring singer-songwriter Paddy Dougherty, will play at 7:30 p.m. June 20 at The Whole Note in Bedford.
The Virginia-based quartet mixes the classic sounds of jazz and blues with Dougherty’s signature sound. Before the quartet, Dougherty sang backup for national bluesman David Bromberg and was the front woman for Lynchburg cover band Mainstreet Rhythm & Blues.
The Whole Note, which opened in Bedford last year, increased its concert offerings this spring with monthly performances. The venue in the Westgate Plaza Shopping Center showcases local musicians, and caters to a range of genres, including classical, jazz, folk and bluegrass.
“It’s an atmosphere that is less formal than a concert auditorium and has the intimacy of kind of a coffeehouse setting where the listening and the performance is the prime reason for being there,” said Scott Walker, the director of the Bedford Community Orchestra and founder of the nonprofit venue.
The suggested donation for Friday’s performance is $10. For information, visit http://www.thewholenote.org or call (540) 947-0208.
