Three area watercolor artists selected for show
Three Lynchburg area artists — Basil Burke, Anne Adams Robertson Massie and Pat Shahrokhi — have been chosen along with other artists from across the state to exhibit their work at the Watercolor Society’s 29th Annual Exhibition.
The exhibition is set to take place Sept. 22 through Nov. 1 at the Shenandoah Club in Roanoke.
This year’s show attracted more than 450 entries from the 398 members of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Only 80 entries were selected.

Corn maze entertainment site set to open Saturday
A new corn maze is opening in Rustburg this weekend.
Trestle Park Corn Maze, located right off 501 just before you get to Rustburg, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
In addition to a 4-acre corn maze, there will also be refreshments and activities for children, including face painting, a giant slingshot, horseshoes, a bean bag toss and ladder golf. The property also has a picnic area for families to enjoy.
Admission is $5 for those 12 and older, $3 for kids ages 5 to 11, and free for kids 4 and younger. For information and directions, visit http://www.trestlepark.com.
Food and snake sense? Program explores idea
What can snakes show us about healthy eating? That’s what a workshop that offers an indepth look at herbivores versus carnivores will explore at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Lynchburg Grows.
The program, offered in conjuction with the Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Nature Zone, is one activity at the 1339 Englewood St. site. Others include visiting livestock, buying produce and seeing the greenhouses.

Renaissance to hold its auditions for next show
The Renaissance Theatre will hold auditions for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 and Sept. 8 at 1022 Commerce St.
Roles are available for 11 men and four women; readings will be taken from the script. The play will run Oct. 31 through Nov. 15. For information, call (434) 845-4427.
