Rep. Bob Goodlatte has nominated Bill Dingman as a 2008 Angel in Adoption for the Lynchburg man’s advocacy of adoption and foster care issues.
Dingman, a single father of three adoptive children, will be one of more than 180 people recognized nationwide during an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., today.
Dingman, a retired postman, is now a full-time father to his three children, Melissaa, Kaitlyn and Marty. He and his late wife, Linda Dingman, who died from breast cancer, took them in as foster children, then later decided to provide them a permanent home.
“Bill has a strong faith and uses that to raise his family and confront the challenges that they face,” Goodlatte, a Republican from Roanoke, said in a news release.
“He is modest about how inspirational his story is, but it is clear that Bill and his family are an inspiration.”
The Angels for Adoption program is orchestrated by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about adoption and foster care issues worldwide.

I think the world needs more people like this. Instead of using your wealth and ability to impress your friends and associates put it to use and do something good-give a child a chance at a life they would never imagine. Give them love and show them that there is good left in the world.
