Three benefit events to support Robbie Wells, a local musician battling prostate cancer, will take place in July.
Wells is a multi-instrumentalist who specializes in the fiddle, and a longtime teacher and performer in Lynchburg. Proceeds from each event will help pay for his cancer treatment.
For the first event, yoga instructor Nancy Allen will lead a stress relief yoga workshop from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on July 19 at the Mind Body Studio on 311 Rivermont Ave. The workshop is open to students of all levels, and will focus on relaxation techniques, gentle poses and healing through alignment and breathing. The cost is $20. For information or to sign up, contact .
The following day, July 20, The Lynchburg Music Center will hold a benefit concert at its in-house performance venue at 1 p.m. The acoustic show features nine performers: The Gurleys, Tray Eppes, Robin Rich, Paul Brunett, Nizhmet, Fred Boyce, The Purveyors, The Wells Clan, and Dave Wells and Friends. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased (cash or check only) at the center at 6006 Fort Ave.
Jazz Street Grill will host a concert from 2 to 8 p.m. on July 27 with four local rock bands: Dog Boys, the Blue Newt Band, Rockslide and Dave Owens and the AAs. Ten percent of Jazz Street’s sales will go to the cancer treatment.
