Central Virginia Community College opens its 2008-2009 season with “Still in the Works,” an exhibition of paintings and ceramic sculptures by Jane Moden.
An opening reception has been set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12. The show, which hangs in the Merritt Hall Gallery, will up through the end of the month.
Moden, the artist whose work includes whimsical self-portraits, teaches art at Virginia Episcopal School and is a ceramics instructor at CVCC.
She lived in both South America and the Middle East before moving to Lynchburg in 2003, and those locales are also reflected in her work.
Moden’s clay and iron oxide sculptures often take the form of masks, some of famous personalities in the news. The masks include Vice President Dick Cheney and Hillary Clinton.
