Lecture demonstration on floral landscape set
The Lynchburg Council of Garden Clubs is sponsoring a lecture demonstration, “Landscape Inspired Floral Designs” by David Pippin, renowned floral designer from Richmond, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Miller Park Aviary.
The event is open to the public at no charge; however, a donation of $5 to defray costs is appreciated. Refreshments will be served. For information, call (434) 237-8488.
LC 4-1-1 session set for prospective grad students
Lynchburg College will host an information session for prospective graduate students from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 in the Alumni House Lounge. LC offers course work leading to the M.A., the M.Ed., and the M.B.A. degrees.
Those attending the information session will have an opportunity to meet with the dean of graduate studies, coordinators of the various graduate programs, and enrollment services staff to explore program features, benefits, and requirements. Information on financial aid and GRE and GMAT testing also will be available.
In addition, several non-degree options are available, including new graduate course sequences in biology and mathematics; coursework for teacher licensure; counseling licensure; license renewal; and professional and personal enrichment.
The College will waive its $30 application fee for those who submit a completed application during the information session.

Coat collection to help those who need them
Burlington Coat Factory, Wards Road, is collecting coats, which will be donated to The Salvation Army that will distribute the coats to those in need in Lynchburg and the surrounding counties.
Participants can donate new or gently used adult or children’s coats. The coats can be dropped off at Burlington Coat Factory and placed in the “One Warm Coat” box at the entrance or taken to The Salvation Army at 2215 Park Avenue.
Hanging of the Greens reservations ongoing
Reservations for the annual Hanging of the Greens Luncheon, which will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at Bedford Historic Meeting House, 149 West Main St., Bedford, are being accepted through Nov. 25.
A limited number of tickets are available.
The cost is $15 for members and $16 for non-members. Proceeds benefit historic preservation projects in the Bedford area. Make checks payable to the Bedford Historical Society, P.O. Box 602, Bedford, VA 24523. Reserved tickets may be picked up at the door on the day of the event.
