LC to hold open house for potential students
Lynchburg College will hold an open house for prospective transfer and Access students at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Alumni House. The Access program offers discounted rates to adult learners age 25 years or older who wish to study at LC.
Information will be presented on transfer scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 as well as the college’s new Transfer Scholarship Competition providing awards ranging from $1,500 to $3,500. Those attending the open house can obtain an unofficial transfer credit evaluation, information on financial aid packages, and a glimpse of what it’s like to be a student at LC.
The college will waive its $30 application fee for all completed applications submitted during the open house.

Sedalia accepting submissions for fair
Area gardeners, bakers and florists are invited to enter their best fresh produce, canned produce and meats, baked goods, floral arrangements (fresh-cut or dried) in the 14th Annual Sedalia Country Fair food and floral competition to be held Saturday. 
Entries may be brought to the Sedalia Center from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and from 7 to 8 a.m. Saturday. Items will be checked in by volunteers who will assign each item a number and all items will be professionally judged in category and ribbons will be awarded.  Judging will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The star of the show this year will be “Amazing Grace,” the unique trick mule.  Some of her tricks include playing basketball and getting the mail. The event also includes a Parade of Horses with an educational guide to each breed, and the largest coon mule jump in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

ACHS class of 1998 to gather for reunion
The Amherst County High School Class of 1998 will hold its reunion from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 4025 Wards Road.
Those planning to attend should register by Sept. 22 at Classmates.com.

RHS class of 1978 to hold 30-year reunion
The Rustburg High School Class of 1978 will hold its 30-year reunion from 6 p.m. to midnight Oct. 4 at the Rustburg Ruritan Center.
