Third Thursdays coming up
Kelly Cherry, the author of more than 20 books of poetry, fiction, memoir and criticism will read from her works during the season’s first Third Thursday at Riverviews, coming up on Sept. 18.
The free program begins at 7:30 p.m.
Cherry’s most recent book is “Hazard and Prospect: New and Selected Poems.”
She is Eudora Welty Professor Emerita at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and now lives in southside Virginia.
Old City Cemetery recruiting actors
The Old City Cemetery Museums and Arboretum is looking for professional actors to portray citizens buried in the graveyard for its inaugural Candlelight Tours Oct. 17 and 18.
Scripts will be provided and in monologue format. Prior theater experience is required.
